Mum ditches unhealthy takeaways to shed 12st – now she’s running London Marathon
Carolann Hicks, 41, is a new woman since ditching her secret takeaway addiction. Not only has she dropped 12st but she’s running the London Marathon next year
A mum shared her incredible weight loss journey after snubbing her fast food addiction.
Before her journey, social worker Carolann Hicks would use food as a way to cope with her emotions.
The 41-year-old often gorged on secret takeaways before sitting down for a meal with her partner and kids.

Now all that is in the past as she turned to Slimming World where she dropped 12st 9lbs.
At her heaviest, she tipped the scales at 23st, but since her transformation she’s the fun active mum she always wanted to be.
She’s even training to complete the London Marathon and has been named Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2022.

Carolann said: “Before I found Slimming World, I was in a very low place in terms of my mental health.
“I didn’t feel confident at work, I wasn’t the kind of mum I wanted to be and I used food to cope with my emotions.
“I remember at one point thinking ‘if this is what my life will be, I don’t want to live it’. I had just given up on myself.”
But she turned her life around when she plucked up the courage to join her local Slimming World group.

A week later, Carolann, who lives in Cornwall with her partner Simon and daughters Kaitlin, 15, and Isobel, 12, lost 12st.
She admitted: “I’d been struck by how much they all genuinely seemed to care about one another’s success – I knew then that I wanted to be part of it.
“As the weeks went on, being part of the group helped me to understand my own relationship with food more deeply, which is what has enabled me to take control and change my mindset around food, drink and exercise.”
Carolann found losing weight steadily and eating healthily caused her energy levels to increase.

She concluded: “When I was bigger, I was so down about myself, and I let life pass me by. Now I’m the first in the queue for a roller-coaster and I’ve become the fun and active mum I always wanted to be.
“I hope I’m showing my daughters the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.”
Her diet before
Breakfast: Nothing
Mid-morning: Biscuits, cakes, chocolate, crisps
Lunch: Shop-bought sandwich from the bakery, or a fast-food takeaway
Dinner: Frozen chicken Kiev with chips or a takeaway
Snacks: Chocolate, sweets, biscuits
Her diet now
Breakfast: Porridge with fruit and yoghurt
Lunch: Homemade omelette with salad, or poached eggs & salmon on wholemeal toast
Snack: Fresh fruit
Dinner: Homemade spaghetti bolognese or chicken curry with rice
Snack: Hot chocolate, fruit and jelly, or a yoghurt
Antony was not happy with Fernandes

The majority of the first half saw Erik ten Hag’s side find it difficult to break down a resilient Palace defence with Antony in particular struggling to get the best of full back, Tyrick Mitchell.
It seemed as if tempers began to flare amongst the United ranks on the half hour mark as Antony and Fernandes were caught exchanging verbals with each other, leading to many speculating on social media.

United now prepare to face Arsenal at the weekend, where they will be without Casemiro after he was booked, taking his total tally to five, meaning he will miss out through suspension.

Colombian popstar Shakira shared a candid message with her fans on Instagram as she welcomed in the new year, taking a thinly-veiled swipe at her former partner by referencing “betrayal” and “heartache”.
“Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands,” the Hips Don’t Lie singer wrote. “Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others.”
In response, Antonela sent Shakira three heart emojis in the comments section, in the latest suggestion that she and her husband are taking the singer-songwriter’s side in the ugly saga.
Shortly after their split, it emerged that Pique was dating 23-year-old Barcelona-born Clara Chia.

Alisha Lehmann has kept her social media followers updated during a recent holiday in Miami – with many left asking how she is still single after her split from Douglas Luiz.
The 23-year-old Aston Villa forward and Switzerland international has been catching the eye both on and off the pitch in recent seasons – with her Instagram following growing to over 10 million.
Following a recent trip in which she posed on the beach for no less than nine separate ʙικιɴι snaps, many of her followers had one thing in mind.
One comment read: “She won’t stay single for long.”

The WSL star was recently back in the headlines after splitting up with Villa midfielder Luiz and then removing their shared snaps from Instagram.
The couple are said to have split over a row regarding her 2023 calendar which reportedly led to a furious row between the pair.

The split came after countless displays of public affection between the loved up couple – as well as him defending her for a comment made by a TV presenter.
Lehmann has also shared several clips of her Soccer AM cameo, in which he bagged a top bins in some style.
One of those to react was fellow Villa professional and Brazil international Luiz, who wrote on her upload with heart and fire emojis: “The best.”
